From June 9 to 12, Bus 042 serviced the athletics team of a Manila-based university from their Manila campus to the Athletic stadiums in New Clark City. This is for a short intensive training program. New Clark City stadium is about 2 hours away from Manila, and teams travel this distance as it is the only facility of its size and standard in the country.

The New Clark City Athletics Stadium is a world-class sports facility located in New Clark City, Capas, Tarlac, Philippines. As the centerpiece of the New Clark City Sports Hub, the stadium symbolizes the country’s commitment to developing modern sports infrastructure and promoting athletic excellence. It gained international recognition as the primary venue for athletics events and the closing ceremony of the 2019 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

Completed in 2019, the stadium features a seating capacity of approximately 20,000 spectators and is designed to meet international standards for track and field competitions. It is the first athletics facility in the Philippines to receive a Class 1 certification from the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), making it suitable for hosting major international sporting events. The stadium also includes a nine-lane athletics track, a natural grass football field, advanced timing systems, and modern training facilities for athletes.

One of the stadium’s most distinctive features is its architecture, which was inspired by the natural beauty of Mount Pinatubo. The design incorporates lahar, a volcanic material from the area, and features a roofline that resembles the crater of the volcano. Its open-air structure allows natural ventilation while providing spectators with unobstructed views of the playing field. The innovative design has earned international recognition and nominations in prestigious architecture and stadium awards.

Beyond sports competitions, the New Clark City Athletics Stadium serves as a venue for football matches, concerts, community events, and national celebrations. It forms part of the broader vision for New Clark City, a sustainable and disaster-resilient urban development intended to support future economic growth and decongest Metro Manila.

Today, the New Clark City Athletics Stadium stands as a landmark of Philippine sports development and engineering excellence. Its state-of-the-art facilities, iconic architecture, and strategic role in national development make it one of the country’s most significant sporting venues and a source of pride for Filipinos.
